Longest Night

longest-night

Christmas is a cheerful time, a time of friends and family, cookies and ornaments and presents, of decking the halls with joy to the world.  But for many, Christmas is a reminder not of the joy in our lives but the pain.  We struggle with grief, loneliness, physical and mental illness, broken families, poverty, addiction, and many other reasons to not feel “merry and bright”.

Grace Lutheran Church and Intertwine Northeast are joining together to offer a Longest Night service — a time to come together in honesty and meditation, to make space for the reality of pain, and to offer each other words of comfort and hope.  We will join together in music, Scripture, stories, and sharing, facing our pain together and reflecting on the ways we find light in the darkness.

Our service of Longest Night will be Wednesday, December 21st, at 7pm at Grace Center for Community Life, 1500 6th St NE, Minneapolis.  We’ll share cookies and cocoa after the service.

Whatever burdens may be weighing you down this season, we invite you to join us and to find a space for rest.

Double Your Impact With Matching Grant

Year End Match GrantThree VERY generous donors (who wish to remain anonymous) have issued a match challenge for Grace Church members and friends from now through the end of December. They have designated a combined amount of $6,000 that they will match if we come up to that amount as well. That would generate a total of $12,000 to help Grace Lutheran to meet its year-end budget obligations.

If you would like to make an additional gift to help meet this goal, donors can make checks out to “Grace Lutheran Church” and mark envelopes and/or the memo line of checks with the word “Match.”  Your donation can be placed in the offering plate along with your weekly offering or mailed to us (1500 6th St NE, Minneapolis MN  55413), or you can donate online by clicking here.
